Driving through the most beautiful countryside on the way to Calabogie Peaks, I knew instantly why Jess + Nick decided to have their wedding here. Such a picturesque place, and I loved how tucked away the ceremony space was, on a little island across a bridge.
This wedding was such a good one. Nick has experience shooting both photo and video himself, as do a few of his groomsmen, so it was awesome spending the morning with them — shooting, playing around with angles, and getting creative — while Jess was upstairs on the second floor, spending time with her family, bridesmaids, and pups.
There were SO many emotional moments, too. Nick kept a letter he had written as a child and gave it back to his parents. Jess’s mom couldn’t help but tear up during all the special moments of helping her into her dress, just so excited that her daughter was getting married.
They exchanged the sweetest vows, and we grabbed a few portraits before they wanted to get back to their reception — and with good reason. They had hired a talented magician to wow the crowd during cocktail hour, and he was incredible. All I could think about was how fun it was to see both the adults and the kids completely captivated by his show.
We brought Nick his film camera, too, and snuck outside for a few last portraits before the sun set.
Thank you, Jess + Nick, for inviting me along to document this day for you. SO honoured. 🤍
